May is National Bike Month
we challenge you to start riding!
Do you accept the challenge?
Riding your bike for pleasure is great for exercise, relaxation, and for getting
some fresh air. But how about trying to ride your bike to get places?
The Smart Living Project wants YOU to think about the different places
you need to get to and how you can start riding your bike to get there.
How about riding your bike to work? the grocery store? the Minnetrista Farmer's Market on Saturdays? the Natural Food Store downtown? to a meeting? Work it into your
schedule to replace at least one trip with your car with a bike ride
per week. May is a great time to get started.
Ride your bike to work one day this month.
If you like it (and we think you
will) consider taking part in the National Bike-to-Work Day on May
16. Check it out here. Why should you ride your bike? Calculate your personal contribution to global
warming here. For other things you can do to help the fight against global warming, check out the EPA site What
You Can Do.
Be safe!
Make sure you know the laws and follow these safety tips. More safety tips can be found here.

Want to voice your opinion about biking laws and encourage politicians to adopt
bike-friendly legislation? Here's a link to a website that let's you
send either canned or original emails to your senators and representatives
urging them to support bike-friendly legislation. If you click the current legislation link, you can view all current bills relating to bike transportation.
Pretty cool, huh?
