Decorations
Less is definitely more, but to really get in the spirit, try some natural or organic decorations instead of the mass-produced stuff from big box stores. Support local artisans and shops, and perhaps if you buy a little less, you can afford to buy better quality things and save them from year to year.
Of course a decorating party with the kids or your friends is always a great idea. Try purchasing natural, organic fibers, non-toxic glues and adhesives, or gather supplies from nature instead of the corner market. Make sure that what you pick can be legally removed from nature first, and always check with the property owner if you are on private lands. Most public lands (think State and National Parks) don’t allow you to take anything home.
