April Challenge
We’ve all heard that April showers bring May flowers, and with that
in mind, Smart Living Project’s monthly challenge is to grow your own
flowers, fruits, and vegetables.
Basic challenge
Grow 1 food item yourself this season.
This month, consider the impact you could have by growing just one food item
yourself this season. Not only will you have the satisfaction of growing your
own food, you can enjoy tasty produce fresh from the garden.
Check out the rest of our website for more tips on sustainable gardening. If
you don’t have a green thumb, visit the Minnetrista Farmer’s Market
from early April to late May. Many vendors have starter plants, such as tomatoes,
available for a very low cost. All you have to do is plant, water, and watch
your garden grow!
Advanced challenge
Compost.
Want to grow the best flowers, fruits, and vegetables in the neighborhood
without harsh pesticides and fertilizers? Then composting is for you! Composting
reduces
the amount of waste we produce while providing essential nutrients for your
garden. Check out the tips on our website for more information, or visit
the Muncie Public Library to find books on composting.
