Celebrate Earth Month
with the Smart Living Project!

Do you accept the challenge?

During Earth Month (Earth Day is April 22!), the Smart Living Project challenges YOU to live smartly. How? We have assembled a list of simple tricks you can try in your daily life to take a small step toward a more sustainable lifestyle.

1. Challenge yourself to BUY NOTHING one day this month. Take one whole day during April and don't spend a dime. That's right, nothing. Can you imagine the impact this would have on the world if we all observed a monthly Buy Nothing Day? Check it out here.

2. Buy ORGANIC next time you go to the grocery store. Check out your local selection at your favorite grocery store, or visit a Natural Food store or Health Food store for some new ideas. Visit the National Organic Program website.

3. Ride your bike to work one day this month. If you like it (and we think you will) consider taking part in the National Bike-to-Work Day on May 16. Check it out here.

4. Donate unused household items to a local charity. Why? Because that way the things you don't use can be used by someone else, and we can minimze both waste going to the landfill and consumption of new goods. To trade stuff with other people locally, check out Freecycle.

5. Set your web browser's homepage to GoodSearch and choose Smart Living Project as your charity. Each time you search the internet using GoodSearch, money is donated to the Smart Living Project to bring sustainable living resources to you!
